Running a Charity auction on Zoom free mini-course
Who this is for
This mini-course is for local service clubs or charities who in the past have held live auctions as a way to raise funds to help their community. With live events not being safe at this time and the needs in the community increasing, the need to raise these much needed funds in a safe way is greater than ever before.
Most organizations have moved to online meetings in order to stay safe. This mini-course will show you how to run a live online auction using standard software and services that you are likely already using: Zoom and PowerPoint. It doesn’t take any specialized skill or technology. You do need some familiarity with Zoom and with PowerPoint, but you certainly don’t need to be an expert at either.
- Small local charities or service organizations who want to raise funds with an online live auction that replaces a previous live auction event
- The organization wants to use standard software (PowerPoint and the Zoom platform) that their members already have and not invest in a specialized service or software
- The auction needs to be run by existing members who have some technical skill and do not require specialized skills or knowledge
General approach
The auction is held in a regular Zoom meeting with a specific setup. Participants see slides that show the item up for auction and the current bid that is updated live. Bids are placed via the Zoom chat feature. Participants see the auctioneer’s video as well as videos of the other participants who have their cameras on. The auctioneer introduces the item, encourages bidding, and closes the sale when the last bid is confirmed. The item, bid, and winning bidder is recorded and the payment and item exchange happens after the auction. It is exciting and raises much needed funds to help the local community.
This course is free so that all small clubs and charities can continue to raise funds that help their community. Sign up below to receive immediate access to all the lessons (see the list of lessons below). I won't contact you for anything else. This is part of my contribution to communities.
